The average transit time for shipping a car from China to the USA is between 2 and 6 weeks. However, shipping to other Asian or European countries can be quicker due to their closer proximity to China.
To import a car from China to the USA, you will need to provide the commercial invoice, vehicle title, and bill of sale translated into English, as well as a detailed packing list that includes the quantity, type of vehicle, and shipping destination. You will then need to submit the following documents to U.S. Customs:
- Bill of lading manifest, which is used for the import, release, and tax purposes.
- Tax Identification Number in USA
- Location of the tariff subheading, and commodity
- Registration as a car importer from China to USA
- Vehicle Customs Value Declaration
- Debt free in USA
- Moving Inventory to USA(original)
- Have a trade or company patent in USA that must indicate that you are dedicated to importing vehicles from China.
- Certificate of origin from China showing the vehicle is brand new (simple copy)
- Demonstrate economic solvency in USA
- Establish the terms of the Incoterms agreement for importation.
- Find a good customs broker in USA
- Shipping company’s original bill of lading from China, sea waybill or airwaybill
- Packing list from the Chinese seller
- Commercial invoice
- Combined Certificate of Value and Origin (CCVO)
- Power of attorney that authorizes your customs broker to clear de car import for you with customs in USA
